05 December 2016In 2014, after a path of radicalization, an Albanian woman resident in Lecco had abandoned her husband and two daughters to travel to Syria, together with her younger son, and enlisted among the ISIS militants. Now, after investigations by the Carabinieri del Ros, a precautionary measure has been issued against the woman. It was her husband, also an Albanian, who reported the disappearance of the woman and her son to the carabinieri. The investigations of the Carabinieri del Ros were coordinated by the District Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office of Milan. In the order of custody against women, signed by the magistrate of Milan Manuela Scudieri, the crime of association with the purpose of international terrorism is contested.

The Ros investigation, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Maurizio Romanelli and substitute Alessandro Gobbis, reconstructed the path of radicalization undertaken by the woman and that led her to decide to leave for Syria with her son who was still a child. The Albanian consulted videos and propaganda material published on the web, published by members of the organization attributable to the Islamic State. His transfer to war territory was also determined by the expectation of joining in marriage with a Macedonian man already fighting for the Caliphate. The investigators also traced the route followed by the woman to reach Syria, also taking advantage of the Balkan area: having arrived in Turkey, she joined a family from Bosnia, which also left to go to the war zone. The analysis of the computerized material found by the carabinieri and subjected to seizure made it possible to detect a considerable quantity of videos of extremist preachers who incited the Jihad. The woman's Albanian husband, who remained with his two daughters in the province of Lecco, repeatedly tried to get in touch with his wife, especially to obtain reunion with his son.
