The police now have a system that allows them to report steering wheel surfers much more smoothly than before, that is, you can fine steering wheel surfers directly in place. In the past, the police had to make a police report, which made the work more difficult.

"This has also meant that we have increased the reporting," says Nils Gustavsson, group manager at the police with a focus on traffic.

But he does not believe that mobile usage in traffic is something that will decrease in the future. The number of legal people has increased from 77 in 2018 to 237 until the end of August this year.

- It is common, I think we will be around these figures in the future, says Nils Gustavsson.

Mobile app makes it easier

He goes on to say that people who use the mobile phone in traffic are a danger to others.

- The problem is that you are not an active driver, basically it is about road safety.

Within the police, a project is currently underway where around 30 traffic police officers use a mobile app for testing, which means that they can report mobile usage in traffic digitally.

How do you think the mobile ban while driving is being followed?
