The government is planning to introduce a new system that grants points that can be used for shopping when a person with a My Number Card uses a cashless payment service as part of economic measures accompanying the increase in the consumption tax rate. According to it, users are supposed to receive a point by selecting and registering one of the private cashless payment services that participate in the system in advance.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, 12 payment services such as IC card and QR code payment have been announced so far.
In addition, it is recommended that the start of the system start around October next year because a certain preparation period is required.
The government will continue to consider the upper limit of points to be granted, and hopes to improve the grant rate of My Number Card, which is currently only around 15% by the new system.
