Tunisian prosecutors on Tuesday arrested the director of the private Tunisian TV channel Sami Fihri on suspicion of money laundering in a case linked to Belhassen Trabelsi, son-in-law of late President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

The prosecutor also authorized the suspension of the director of the channel and the agent of the company "Cactus Broad" programs and confiscated by the state, as well as the suspension of the judicial actor in charge of the management of the company.

Al-Sulaiti added that the three would be investigated for five days for suspicion of money laundering and violation of laws.

Earlier, Tunisian state television filed a lawsuit against the "Cactus" company owned by Trabelsi, a fugitive abroad, a partner of Sami Fihri, accused of financial corruption and exploitation of the equipment of the public institution, causing serious financial damage.

For years before the revolution, Cactus monopolized the production of Tunisian state television entertainment programs, taking advantage of advertising revenues.

For its part, the judiciary issued a decision a week ago to ban travel Sami al-Fihri, and issued international fetch cards against Belhassen Trabelsi.

Since the election of law professor Qais Saeed last month, the government, in coordination with the presidency, has re-launched the anti-corruption campaign and announced a financial audit involving the Foreign Ministry and public companies.

During his campaign, Said vowed to fight corruption and, in his first speech as president, said he "will not tolerate wasting any dime of the money of the Tunisian people."
