At the end of October, the snail was found for the first time in Sweden, then in Svealand. But now the snail has also been discovered in Jönköping County.

It is still unclear how invasive the species is and therefore the county administrative board wants the spread to be limited. If the snail is found in nature, the findings should be reported to the Art Portal and authorities via the page invasivaarter.nu, preferably with a picture.

Eggs in the soil

The snail is originally from the Caucasus. It has black head and gray-translucent body. At most it grows to about five centimeters long.

According to the County Administrative Board of Jönköping, it is important that observations that are now made come to the attention as soon as possible, since the adult snails die during the winter. However, the eggs remain in the soil and hatch in the spring.
