JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel is to release on Wednesday Jordanian prisoners Hiba al-Labadi and Abdel Rahman Marei, who were arrested at the Karama bridge between the kingdom and the West Bank, after contacts last week.

Speaking on Twitter, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi said of the two citizens held by Israel "for hours and they are between their families in Jordan of goodness and dignity."

Ahmed Tibi, an Arab member of the Knesset (Israeli parliament), said in a tweet on Twitter: "Hiba al-Labadi and Abdel Rahman Merhi will be released shortly and return to Jordan."

The Prime Minister's Office said on Monday that Jordan will return its ambassador to Israel in the next few days, after the two sides agreed to transfer Jordanian citizens to the responsibility of the Jordanian security services.

"The head of the Shin Bet (Shin Bet) has agreed with his Jordanian counterpart on security measures related to their release," he said in a written statement.

Tel Aviv had arrested al-Labadi on the Karama bridge between Jordan and the West Bank in August. On the same bridge, she was arrested in September.
