In the article, the researchers have based on six areas that they consider to be especially important for doing something about the emergency. These include energy use, food consumption and population growth.

By studying these areas over a 40-year period, they show how our lifestyle increases greenhouse gas emissions and what we must do to stop this development.

An important contribution

Climate professor Keri Facer at Uppsala University has taken note of the article. She believes that it can be a useful and powerful contribution in the climate debate.

- This is important to make us all aware of the significant challenge we are facing, to prevent climate chaos and how necessary it is with a change, says Keri Facer.

We must act

Furthermore, she believes that the governing authorities need to take action by legislating. We would also need to ask ourselves how we do things at home and out in society.

- This requires all of us to go to action and collaborate, she says.

- Sweden has made enormous changes in the past. Swedes have joined forces to take the lead and take action. That is what we need again.
