On the television platform of this single election debate, the socialist Pedro Sanchez , a favorite for the elections next Sunday, gives the impression of being alone against all. More exactly, against the leader of Podemos, Pablo Iglesias, and against the three leaders of the right, the liberal of Ciudadanos Albert Rivera, the conservative of the Popular Party, Pablo Casado, and the leader of Vox, the ultra -populist, Santiago Abascal. A criticized Pedro Sanchez, accused by some of playing the game of Catalan separatists, by others to want to ally with the right.

Pedro Sanchez insisted on the conquests of his government. " State pact against domestic violence, change of the Penal Code to defend women and paternity leave of 18 weeks for 2024, " he listed. The Socialist leader also defended his recent initiative to extract the dictator Franco from his mausoleum to put him in a more discreet cemetery. But in front, the right has reproached him for reopening the wounds of the past.

Good polls for Vox

To the left, Podemos wants to focus on social policies. The right-wing extremist Santiago Abascal held a safe speech. " I believe that women want security and that Mr. Sanchez answers the question of whether rapists go to jail before going out through another door. This is what we really have to offer women: give them security, "he said.

The extreme right is credited with a good score on November 10th. As for the socialists, they will certainly win. But they will need allies to govern. And no one knows who they will be.
