The official statement was made at a briefing by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Gen Shuang.

The diplomat expressed hope that “all interested parties will adhere to the principles of mutual respect and equality”, which will allow achieving positive shifts in the negotiation process.

Earlier, the United States Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions on several Iranian citizens, including against the son of Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, Mojtaba.

The headquarters of the republic’s armed forces also fell under sanctions.
