Rive legal agency has several dissatisfied customers and some of them have reported the company to the Swedish Consumer Agency. The Consumer Ombudsman, who has reviewed the first 18 notifications, has now chosen to sue the company for misleading price information.

In several cases, the company has agreed with its clients orally over the phone, but the only detail cost they have indicated has been what the work itself costs per hour. In a subsequent e-mail, they have then referred to their terms and conditions, stating that the agency may travel with private plans.

Private plan cheaper than trains?

In the terms, the agency also writes that they guarantee that travel costs will be the lowest possible.

The following is a comparison of different travel options that the company itself has made, in a specific case where a lawyer has traveled from the company's headquarters in Borlänge to a client meeting in Ängelholm. The calculation was delivered to the client after the meeting, together with the invoice.

According to the agency's calculations, a train trip would cost SEK 39 250, a car trip SEK 32,000 and a trip with the agency's own plan SEK 25 450.

Time wasting - what does it mean?

In order to understand the calculations, one must know the concept of the "waste of time". The waste of time means that the lawyer pays for time that they otherwise could have used for other work. In this case, it is about the travel time in the different alternatives.

Rive legal agency charges SEK 1,700 per hour for time wasting.

This is how the agency has calculated:

Footnote: During the autumn, the Agency has updated its terms with clarifications.
