Philosopher Theodore Zeldin also talks about the success of Boris Johnson, who, he says, has English humor: "Boris Johnson makes us laugh and we need to laugh despite all our misfortunes". For him, this sense of humor hides a certain embarrassment in the current crisis: "The English use humor to hide the truth, to avoid giving an answer".

He also points to the futility of new early elections: "We know that parties are divided about Brexit, so an election to elect parties does not solve anything, and we refuse the referendum because we do not want a clear answer ".
