November 03, 2019The vast and deep low-pressure area of ​​Atlantic origin present on Italy, in the coming hours, will continue to determine conditions of marked instability with significant phenomena extending to the central-southern regions. Ventilation will remain intense from the southern quadrants over all regions of the Center-South with storm surges along the exposed coasts. On the basis of the available forecasts, the Civil Protection Department, in agreement with the regions involved (which are responsible for activating the civil protection systems in the territories concerned), has issued a new notice of adverse weather conditions that integrates and extends the previous.

The weather phenomena, impacting on the different areas of the country, could determine hydrogeological and hydraulic criticalities. The warning provides from the afternoon of today strong winds or south-western storms, with gusts of strong storm, on Marche, Calabria, Puglia and Sicily. Sea storms along the exposed coasts. From today's evening, widespread precipitations are expected in Calabria, especially in the reverse or temporal nature, especially in the Tyrrhenian areas. The phenomena will be accompanied by heavy rain showers, frequent electrical activity and strong gusts of wind. On the basis of the expected and ongoing phenomena, for the day today the Liguria Region has raised the level of alert for hydrogeological risk, from orange to red, on the Levante sea basins. High orange alert on the western sectors of Emilia-Romagna and on the northern Tyrrhenian side of Calabria.

The meteorological and critical situation forecast for Italy is updated daily based on the new forecasts and the evolution of the phenomena, and is available on the website of the Civil Protection Department, together with the general rules of behavior to be kept in case of bad weather. Information on regional alert levels, specific criticalities that could affect individual territories and the prevention actions taken are managed by the territorial civil protection structures, in contact with which the Department will follow the evolution of the situation.
