Wafa Hamad bin Sulaiman, director of the Department of People of Determination, told Emirates Today that all cases of autism from citizens are paid for security assistance, regardless of the father's salary. State and private citizens, both citizens and non-citizens, who receive free care and treatment in government centers - 1,535 students, including 842 citizens.
According to the latest statistics, 54.8% of the total number of autism cases registered in the centers are nationals of students with autism in the UAE.
She added that all government centers are supported by the government and provide care services free of charge to citizens, at a time when the cost of autism treatment in private centers in the country, between 30 and 90 thousand dirhams annually.
Ben Sulayman stressed that «most cases of autism at the state level are registered in the federal government centers and local free», while the number of those in private centers 498 students, mostly non-citizens.
She said that the ministry provides rehabilitation services for all types of students for autism, through the centers of the federal government of concern, the most important of which is Umm Al Quwain Center for Autism, which serves children in the emirates of Umm Al Quwain, Ajman and Sharjah, in addition to centers and departments of early intervention in other emirates, pointing to the licensing of private centers That provide services to children with autism.
On the role of the ministry in supporting and caring for people with autism and their families, Bin Sulaiman pointed out to the qualification of national cadres and training them in diagnostic and evaluation processes for students with autism according to the latest standards and tools used in the world, leading to determine their abilities and skills in various communication, social and behavioral fields, stressing that this reduces It also provides diagnostic errors and provides rehabilitation programs for them in the Ministry of Determination Centers.
