As the parliamentarian said in an interview with RT, a bill is currently being drafted to introduce amendments to the federal laws On Non-Profit Organizations and On Political Parties.

The initiative provides for a ban on the founders and leaders of NGOs - foreign agents to create political parties and enter their governing bodies, Fedorov added.

“The Ministry of Justice has been maintaining a register of foreign agents for several years. We know who created these organizations, who manages them and what foreign sources finance them. Moreover, the law does not prohibit the founders and leaders of such organizations from creating political parties, ”the deputy explained.

As a result, he said, a situation may arise when the director of an NPO, a foreign agent who receives money for his activities from abroad, and the co-chair of a political party are one and the same person.

Fedorov said that in the near future he plans to submit the prepared amendments to the discussion of the expert council of the United Russia faction, which he represents in parliament.

Currently, the register of the Ministry of Justice of Russia contains information on 73 NGOs that engage in political activities, while receiving foreign financial assistance.

In early October, the Ministry of Justice of Russia included the Anti-Corruption Fund in the register of non-profit foreign agents.

As stated in the department, the fact of compliance of the organization with the signs of a non-profit organization performing the functions of a foreign agent was established in the course of monitoring its activities.
