“I think this resolution is a desire to demonstrate to Trump that Congress does not support him in his desire to attract Russia to the G7. They make it clear to the President that they strongly disagree with him. Further, he can either publicly declare war on Congress, or simply shrug and agree, ”the senator said.
According to Morozov, the appearance of the resolution is an absolutely American story, "which has no relation to real Russian-American relations, an internal political fight."
Earlier, the US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee passed a resolution against Russia’s inclusion in the G7.
