• Residents abroad: The vote begged or the odyssey of Spaniards residing abroad to exercise their right
  • Last minute: Vote by mail: Deadlines, until what day can be requested and documentation

The requests for votes by mail decreased by 30% in relation to the requests made eight months ago for the general elections of April 29. This is revealed by the latest data provided by Correos, which has already admitted almost one million applications for the elections on November 10.

In the absence of this deadline for requesting a vote by correspondence this Friday, the state company has informed that it has admitted a total of 918,455 requests from citizens who wish to exercise their right to vote by mail on 10-N. In the elections last April, also in the absence of a day to close the deadline, Correos had managed 1,310,706 applications, which represents a 29.92% reduction in the current elections.

The final data for that campaign rose above 1.33 million, and in the June 2016 elections it was even higher and reached 1.46 million. As of Thursday, Correos had already delivered 815,646 applications in the provincial delegations of the Electoral Census Office, responsible for providing electoral documentation to exercise the right to vote.

The Autonomous Communities whose census delegations have received the most requests for vote by mail have been Andalusia, with 140,913 requests; Madrid, with 135,681; and Catalonia, with 84,786 applications.

The applicant has a deadline until Friday, November 8 - two days before the elections - to deposit the envelope with his vote in any of the approximately 8,600 points of admission that Post has throughout Spain, at his usual time and, at most until 2 pm, in accordance with the extension decision adopted by the Central Electoral Board.

Until Thursday, Correos has made available to the voters 567,585 electoral documents and even 322,140 votes have already been admitted by mail. In any case, the state company recommends not waiting until the last day and take advantage of the wide range of postal offices.
