It was the Social Committee that made the decision at the end of May to urgently close housing because it was felt that the safety of the residents could not be guaranteed due to staff shortages.

The eleven residents who have the Gullvivan as their home live after the move to other homes that are located in Lysekil municipality. Many relatives heard from SVT West and told of great concern and anger directed at how the municipality had failed in the communication, among other things.

Ivo: The information was not enough

Now the Social Committee receives criticism from the Inspection for Care and Care (Ivo):

“The IVO can note that although information has been provided, it has not been sufficient or relevant to avoid the anxiety and anxiety of the residents and their relatives. The individual must also be given the opportunity and the right to submit comments and complaints about the execution of the intervention, in this case the relocation to other special accommodation. "

In addition, Ivo criticizes the municipality deciding to close the housing - without leaving alternatives for the residents.

"According to IVO, it is not acceptable to put the individuals before a choice which means either accepting the offered alternative or refusing and finding another solution."

Chairman: We couldn't have done otherwise

Ricard Söderberg (S) is chairman of the social committee.

- I don't see how we could have done more when it came to information flow that was then. We gave out a lot of information, and we couldn't have done otherwise when the situation was so urgent, he says.

What do you think Ivo means that you cannot say that the residents must move or fix the accommodation themselves?

- It also says that on the basis of the municipality as executor to execute the decision on assistance, so generally I do not think it is appealable. Decisions should be made in the individual cases in accordance with the rules that exist, says Ricard Söderberg.

So he continues:

- It was an extreme situation, and none of our long-time managers have ever seen anything like it. Now we will review our routines so that we act better if we end up in the same situation again,

According to Ivo, no action will be taken due to the deficiencies, but the decision may be followed up.

The future plans for Gullvivan have also been about the municipality, which has said that it wants to expand its operations. But that proposal was voted down by the Social Committee at the end of October this year.
