A tough advertising situation since last summer is said to be the reason why Bonnier News-owned Mittmedia - which owns the local newspapers in Hälsingland and Gävle - is planning a savings package. This confirms business manager Mikael Nestius for the magazine Journalisten.

How much money to be paired, or on what is not yet determined.

More services can be removed

The effect of the savings package on local journalism is therefore not possible to say at present and the journalist club in Mittmedia has not received any information. But over the past year, the Group has removed a number of services.

"Since last summer, the advertising market has been worse than expected, and it may have meant that you now think differently and plan to remove more services," says Johanna Hejdenberg, chair of the journalist club in northern Mittmedia.

How will this affect journalism?

- It depends on what the savings requirements look like, but Mittmedia has lost many journalistic services. We are fewer than we have ever been while producing journalism to generate reader revenue. Somewhere goes the limit, says Johanna Hejdenberg.
