The French president has chosen to explain about Islam in an interview published Thursday, October 31 in Current Values , a weekly ranked very right. A surprising choice in a tense context (although this interview was carried out several days before the attack on the Bayonne mosque), but a choice assumed by the Elysee.

A very long interview of 12 pages without real surprise on the bottom. On immigration, the president reaffirms his credo "to welcome less to welcome better", insisting on the need to better fight against illegal immigration and reduce "abuse" of state medical aid.

" I fight with all my strength against communitarianism Emmanuel Macron also reiterates, but he warns again against the trap of " communautarisme = islam ".

The president condemns the verbal aggression of a member of the National Assembly against a veiled woman , denouncing his " humiliation " and also considers " counterproductive " the vote by the Senate to prohibit school trips to veiled women .

Nothing new so, if it is of course the choice to address a magazine close to the extreme right. What to lend the flank to the accusations of poaching on the land of Marine Le Pen, a desire to siphon the electorate right.

Embarrassment in the majority and demining operation at the Élysée which hammers " that the president speaks to all the French, without ostracism ". Certainly, but perhaps at the risk of blurring his message, without completely clarifying his vision of secularism.
