With this objective in mind, the Charter of Agrigento presented at the ANCI headquarters in Rome is born. The document had been prepared already in April but it is in December that it will be voted by the plenum of the European Committee of the Regions. The local realities ask the European Union to promote "effective policies to improve the fruition of the community cultural heritage". To implement the Charter of Agrigento it is necessary for Europe to invest "the resources necessary to realize the many ideas of valorization that are in Italy and on the Continent". According to the president of the national council Anci, Enzo Bianco, "is a significant step in the relationship between our Municipalities and culture. It is an act for the promotion of cultural tourism signed by all the presidents of the Regions". Enrico Rossi, President of the Tuscany Region, hopes to ask Europe for "fundamental assets for culture within the cohesion funds".
