Five years after the uprising, many young people are still waiting for the much desired change. Although they do not regret the fall of the regime of former President Blaise Compaore, many people accuse the new power to lead the country with the same methods as the old regime.

Like every night, after work, Ferdinand Sawadogo and his friends play petanque. One of the achievements of the insurgency remains freedom, he says: " Now there is much more freedom, press, speech and everything. "

Grumbling social, corruption, poor governance ... the break so dreamed, slow to materialize according to Ezechias Somé, sitting in front of his home around a tea: " We do not really feel this social grumbling go down, and whenever certain people are incriminated, we do not feel that steps are being taken to stop things. In all areas, all lights are red, either on the job side, whether on the security side. "

Daouda Nebié is an accountant and his friend Mahamadi Compaore a librarian at Joseph Ki-Zerbo University. Both are worried about the behavior of some authorities: " We have reports from some specialized institutions to detect corruption problems. If this is true, we think the insurgency will not have served because we thought we could put these things behind us, "says the first, when the second questions:" What makes me worry a lot more, that's where we go with everything that's wrong. There is no more tolerance as such. Where does my country go? "

For the opposition, " cohesion is undermined"

Although they do not regret having participated in the advent of alternation in Burkina Faso, five years after the uprising, many Ouagalais are disappointed with the management of business by the new power.

Zéphyrin Diabré was one of the political actors of this insurrection, he is today the leader of the opposition. " It was a major political event in the life of our country. It was the expression of a whole population against a certain way of governing and a governance that had enormous flaws, "he says.

But for him, the bad governance and mismanagement denounced by the protesters five years ago have not disappeared. " The situation has greatly worsened. This is a regime that many actors only want to fill their pockets rather than serve. And to this is added the fact that we have a security situation that has reached a level of severity that has never been known in our political history, we have not managed to stem the tide. We are witnessing massive displacements of people , something we have never seen in our political history. And our social cohesion, our living together, are hurt by this phenomenon because the actions of terrorists have led to distilling the sentiment in the opinion that some Burkinabe, some Burkinabe communities should be indexed. So those who manage the country must offer us the approach, the method and the vision allowing us to get out of this situation. "

The state can not do everything at once

The country therefore appears to some as a fragile state, particularly because of security tensions in northern and central Burkina Faso, which continue to increase.

But for the government spokesman, on the contrary, the state and the army continue to build and consolidate. Although he recognizes some weaknesses, including security, the record of these five years post-insurrection is generally positive, says Remis Fulgance Dandjinou. " I think we have started a process and that process is coming to an end. Nothing can be fully finished right from the start. The construction of the well-being of the populations is done in continuity. We can not think today that we can do it in a year or two years, when we have a system that has been established for two decades or so. So each of us reads the news and the facts in the light of his vision. Today we have a construction of a democracy that is sometimes in pain, particularly because of the terrorist attacks, but is being made and is progressing more and more. Burkina holds it, takes again the hand. We all have an interest in him. Efforts make it possible to reinforce this resilience and to give a success to Burkina in this fight which is imposed on it. "
