October 29, 2019The House of Representatives of the United States voted, by a large majority, a resolution recognizing the "Armenian genocide". The unprecedented vote was welcomed by the lively applause of the hemicycle. This is the first time such a resolution has been voted on in the United States.

The text that calls for "commemorating the Armenian genocide" and intends to "reject attempts to associate the US government with the denial of the Armenian genocide" was adopted with 405 votes out of a total of 435, scoring a rare convergence between Democrats and Republicans.

Immediate condemnation of the Turkish government.

The herd genocide is recognized by some thirty countries and most of the community of historians. According to estimates, between 1.2 and 1.5 million Armenians were killed during the First World War by troops from the Ottoman Empire.
