The Blekinge support fund was started in 2013 and has come to be a large and influential charity in Blekinge. The idea is to collect, among other things, clothing, food and money through social media to help people who for various reasons have been in acute economic crisis, or who have fallen between the chairs of the authorities.

Over the years, the Support Fund claims to have helped hundreds of families with everything from strollers to rental payments, food and clothing. SVT itself has been in contact with several people and families who, over the years, have been helped when they found themselves in financial distress.

No registered association

But there are question marks. Both authorities and organizations point out that the way of working is not optimal, and earlier major donors have chosen to withdraw from collaborations.

When an ad is posted on the association's Facebook page, donors are often asked to donate mainly clothing or food, but Stödkassen also writes that it is good to swish contributions that are used to buy what is needed. According to one of the two responsible, a "good" search can withdraw around SEK 2,500.

But the association is not registered with any authority and does not have its own organization number or verifiable company account. They work as a sub-organization to the registered association Fair People, but it is according to the principal himself inactive and has not submitted any income tax declaration in recent years.

Instead, the money donations to the Support Fund are switched to the two bank account holders' private bank accounts.

- So we did. We have each account, [the other] has the remaining Blekinge and I have Karlskrona. The swish is in the Support Fund, and the donations are marked. So if I were to sell something privately or I saw what was what, says one of the managers.

Unclear turnover

Exactly how much money the organization collects and uses is only the two responsible can answer. They do around a hundred searches every year via social media - and get large sums donated to them by various companies and organizations in Blekinge.

The money sent in, according to those responsible, is used for gift cards on food, clothing or to pay bills. The organization never pays any cash to the applicants.

- All the money we collect goes to the needy. We do not keep a penny for ourselves. And if a family has their needs covered, the money is saved to the next seeking family, says one of the managers.

Refusing to report

But controlling how the money is used should prove to be impossible for an outsider. The only way to access the cash flow of the Support Fund is through the banks where there is strict confidentiality. And despite several requests to the Swedish Support Agency's officials to get access to the financial report, we get no.

- No, I feel that we do not need to report. After all, no one else needs to see our bank statements because there is nothing to see.

Would it help you if you showed it?

- Yes, but I feel partly that ... No I do not want it.
