A patient who was cared for in a psychiatric ward in Sundsvall was told that he would be transferred and received a syringe, he then became angry with the caregiver who announced this.

The patient, a man in his 30s, attacked the caregiver with a chain and struck him in the head. At the same time, the aggressive patient screamed "it's over for you" and the like.

Risk of relapse

The man has previously been convicted of violent crime and then served the sentence in the form of forensic psychiatric care. The Prison and Probation Service says in an opinion through the health service in Sundsvall that there is an increased risk of recurrence in crime.

Sundsvall's district court now chooses to convict the man for guardianship of violence against an official and minor drug crimes. He should be monitored to make sure he is taking his medication. In addition, the man will pay SEK 7,000 in damages to the caregiver who was attacked.
