October 29, 20197.00 Joshua Wong will not be able to run in the Hong Kong district elections on November 24th: the former leader of the 'umbrella movement' in 2014 and among the activists most in view of the protests that have involved the city for almost 5 months, has been disqualified because the candidacy does not meet the electoral requirements. The government explained that defending or promoting the former colony's self-determination is contrary to the requirement that a candidate must support the Basic Law (local constitution) and express loyalty to Hong Kong.
