Demonstration against violence against women in Paris, 6 July 2019. Martin BUREAU / AFP

Tuesday, October 29, the eleven working groups made a first return of their observations and their proposals in the context of the Grenelle domestic violence launched September 3 in France. In total, more than sixty proposals have been made.

A woman dies again every two to three days under the blows of her spouse. For the Justice Working Group, the protection of victims is first and foremost a result of better reporting and changing medical secrecy.

" We propose an amendment to Article 22614 of the Penal Code in order to allow doctors or carers to bring to the attention of the authorities, facts of domestic violence when there is a serious risk of renewed violence ", explains Isabelle Rome, senior official at the Ministry of Justice.

Another strong proposal: the establishment of a very clear protocol to better accommodate, but also to better assess the danger to which victims are confronted.

Sandrine Guillon is a justice advisor in the Office of the Director General at the National Gendarmerie: " Two proposals: develop a danger assessment form that will be used when the victim comes to the police station or the gendarmerie and then make the necessary decisions. . And then a risk assessment reflex card for police officers and gendarmes who travel to the home, intended to assess the danger in an operational and immediate manner. "

The handling of psychological violence, the protection of children, the requisitioning of firearms for violent spouses are all proposals on which the working groups will continue to reflect. They have until November 25th.
