The State Duma said that the opening of the Golden Coast gambling zone near Yalta will help to overcome the sanctions imposed on the peninsula after the reunification of Crimea with Russia in 2014. This opinion was expressed by the State Duma deputy from the region, a member of the financial market committee Andrei Kozenko.

“We have everything for this category of tourists to be international, and I am sure that with the help of this facility we can take another step to overcome the sanctions. Foreign tourists who will come here will see that an open relationship, an open economy is better than “fences,” Tosen quotes Kozenko.

In addition, in his opinion, if foreigners begin to show great interest in this part of the Crimea, this will help to resume international communication with the airport of Simferopol.

“I believe that charter flights are quite possible,” the deputy added.

Logistics and Infrastructure

According to political analyst Vladimir Jaraly, any projects are now useful for the development of the peninsula. According to him, it is important to establish communication with foreign countries. Today, flights from Europe to the Crimea already exist, but with transfers in Moscow and the airports of the Caucasus. According to the expert, it is also necessary to establish the infrastructure for the delivery of tourists from the airport directly to the gambling zone.

At the same time, Sergei Tolchin, Deputy General Director of NTK Intourist, assured RT in a commentary that the infrastructure in Crimea was well developed, but the opening of a gambling zone could stimulate its greater development and attract new investors. The head of the Republic of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, for his part, noted that a civilian terminal had already been set up at the Belbek military airport in Sevastopol. It is assumed that from there tourists will be able to directly go to the "Golden Coast".

With the proper organization of the whole process, the project can be quite winning, Jaralla emphasized.

“Unlike other gambling zones, everyone notes that the location in the Crimea looks the most attractive. In this case, we can say that only the final implementation of the project will help to get answers to all questions, ”he concluded.

Recall that at present there are four gambling zones in Russia: the Siberian Coin in the Altai Territory, Primorye in Primorsky, Yantarnaya in the Kaliningrad Region and Krasnaya Polyana in Sochi.

Economic aspect

Economist Mikhail Khazin believes that it is too early to judge the possible profitability of the gambling zone in Yalta, because there are no details about the internal structure of the project yet.

“It is very early to talk about profitability, because there are a lot of different options that depend on scale. You can, for example, arrange one casino, or you can open a complex. Of course, this will require investment, ”he told RT.

At the same time, one should not expect an early lifting of sanctions, the expert noted. In his opinion, the development of the region is necessary without regard to the possible reaction of Europe and the United States.

“Our task is to develop the Crimea, and what Washington thinks there, by and large, it’s not very interesting for us,” concluded Khazin.

Recall that the law on the creation of a gambling zone in the Crimea was signed back in 2014. In October 2019, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed an order to create the Golden Coast gaming zone in Yalta. It will be located near the village of Katsiveli in the territory of the former sanatorium "Fortuna". The area allocated for the project is 147 thousand square meters. m

Crimean Prime Minister Yuri Gotsanyuk said that the leadership has already begun to receive applications from those wishing to participate in the project.
