From Friday night to Monday morning, it had rained almost as much in Torup as it normally rains for an entire October month. More precisely, 81 millimeters. Only Lidhult, adjacent to the Dutch border, in Kronoberg County measured higher levels in the country.

Per Stenborg, meteorologist at SVT.

- It has rained a lot, to say the least, says Per Stenborg, explaining that the soil is saturated and unable to receive more water.

- Nissan, Fylleån and Bolmån have high water levels after the weekend's rainfall, he says.

The groundwater reservoir is filled

During Tuesday, however, it seems that the levels will fall and the rest of the week will instead be dry and cold.

- There will be minus degrees throughout the county during the night and clear weather on the days with four to six degrees.

Thanks to the rain, groundwater levels are also being raised, where the October measurements show that many smaller reservoirs have been filled.

In the clip below, SMHI explains how groundwater levels recovered after a period of drought.
