An Egyptian youth was killed and another seriously injured after the train collector forced them to jump from him while he was walking for not paying the fare, sparking anger on social media.

Witnesses said that the train collector on the Alexandria-Tanta line forced two young men to jump from the train while walking near the village of "Dafra" of the Tanta Center in the governorate of Gharbia in northern Egypt, for their inability to pay for the ticket, killing one and injuring the other.

According to the forensic report, the young Mohammed Abdul Hamid (23 years) died as a result of separation of the head from the body, while the second young Ahmed Mohammed Ali (25 years) injured in the arms, chest, back, abdomen and pelvis.

On the details of the accident, the National Authority for Railways of Egypt, which is affiliated to the Ministry of Transport, said that "during the course of the train 934 air conditioner Alexandria - Luxor, and while the head of the train to ask two passengers to pay the fare, they refrained from paying the fare. The signaling system of the station, they got off the train while walking, one of which fell under his wheels and died on the spot, and the other passenger was injured, and were taken by ambulance to Tanta General Hospital.

The Authority said in a statement on Monday evening that "the head of the train was seized by the police of the railway, and took a decision to stop the head of the train and two trainers until the end of the investigation with them in the Public Prosecution."

Commenting on the incident, Transport Minister General Kamel al-Wazir said: "We do not accept any harm to any Egyptian citizen."

He added in a press statement that the case was dealt with in an exaggerated manner, promising the emergence of truth in the investigations.

The incident angered many of the pioneers of social networking sites who demanded the punishment of officials, while some linked what happened to the earlier statements of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi that there should be no free services.
