The budget is a total of just over SEK 6 billion and was presented on Monday. Behind are the governing parties in the Mitt-S collaboration, which includes the Social Democrats, the Environment Party, the Center Party and the Liberals.

In the budget, the committees in the municipality receive a 4 percent increase in their budgets compared to the previous year. At the same time, a requirement for efficiency of 0.5 percent for the committees.

- We see that it will be some tougher years, says Ulf Olsson, (S) chairman of the municipal council in Borås.

Young people should help the elderly

One investment that is made is for young people to be employed in the elderly care to provide social interaction and easy help to the elderly. This can, for example, be about helping the elderly read the newspaper or play cards. Something that is believed to be able to help Borås get hold of staff in the future.

- It has been implemented in other municipalities. Then it has been seen that the young people who do this, who are between 13 and 16 years, to a greater extent choose a nursing program, says Anna Svalander (L).

Criticism from the opposition

Annette Carlson is the opposition council for the Moderates. She thinks there are few proposals in the budget.

- I think it has been difficult for them to agree. There are four parties with different political orientations, she says.

Different views on LOV

One such issue where there were ideological differences between the parties in the Mitt-S collaboration concerns the remuneration of the LOV companies.

- It's no secret that we have a slightly different view of this. But we have also reached a compromise that all parties can support, says Ulf Olsson (S), chairman of the municipal council.

- I think the increase in LOV compensation is extremely important, so we get freedom of choice in care, says the municipal council Anna Svalander (L).
