Benoit Paire, 23rd in the world, qualified on Monday for the second round of the Paris Masters 1000, eliminating Bosnian Damir Dzumhur (91st), 7-5, 6-4.

The 30-year-old Avignonnais is the second Frenchman to get out of the first round without a hitch, after Jérémy Chardy, winner of the American Sam Querrey (47th) 5-7, 6-3, 7-5.

In the next round, Paire will find on his way the number one French and world 13th, Gael Monfils.
