Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, President of Zayed University, inaugurated the joint creative project of a number of graduates of the Faculty of Arts and Creative Industries and students of the Faculty of Communication and Media Sciences at Zayed University, entitled “Reimagining Social Media”. At Al Serkal Avenue, Dubai, and will continue until Wednesday, October 30.

The project is an innovative initiative in which ten artists from the College of Arts graduates are Aisha Al Hammadi, Alia Al Ansari, Amira Al Bastaki, Aisha Issa Al Muhairi, Hassana Aref, Hessa Al Fahim, Malina Server, Maryam Abdullah Al Muhairi, Moza Mohammed Al Nuaimi, and Sara Ahmed Al Refaie. In addition to 100 students studying social networking at the Faculty of Media.

The first is an exhibition representing the visual aspect of the project, accomplished by the graduates of the Faculty of Arts, and the second: an introductory seminar for students of the Faculty of Information during which they reviewed the conceptual aspect of the project, and their responses to the artistic work and issues.

The whole project revolves around presenting a modern youth vision to deal with the challenges posed by the reality of "social communication", where every creative person, or non-creative person, is able to produce textual or visual content, writing, commenting, photographing, publishing or creating platforms to interact with word, voice and image. And expressive painting .. Which necessitated the imposition of some kind of control or regulation of each "flash" on the communication screens, which raised the question of the new generations about their aspirations for the future and accountability of technological development.

Accompanied by His Excellency Prof. Dr. Riyad Al-Muhaidib, Rector of the University and Dr. Michael Wilson, Rector of the University, toured the exhibition, where she stopped in front of each work and listened to the vision of the author and discussed the content, the message and the tools used to accomplish it, and the challenges that accompanied its production since it was born as an abstract idea. And how it evolved until the incarnation and completed .. And expressed admiration for the work involved in general.

Her Excellency then attended the presentation session and listened to the proposals of the students of the Faculty of Communication and Media Sciences and their interactions, which they expressed in text on the questions posed by the project.

The visual range of social media platforms, including Instagram and Snapchat, redefines how artists and the general public interact with art. On the one hand, it is a sophisticated social media and on the other hand has the aesthetic scope to expand the conceptual framework of its digital boundaries. . This innovative initiative, bringing together art, design, journalism and media students at Zayed University, is trying to explore the conceptual aspects of visual expression and its interpretation.

The students have spent many months doing their work, from picking up the idea, then doing extensive research on its content, through creative thinking and problem-solving processes, and engaging in a great deal of analytical and critical discussions with faculty members, to crystallizing the artistic achievement.
