October 28, 20193.03 The center-left Peronist Alberto Fernandez is the winner of the Argentine presidential election, beating the outgoing head of state, the liberal Macri. With 80% of the votes cast, Fernandez is attributed to 47.45% of the votes. Macri stops at 41.11%. To win in the first round, 45% of the votes were required, or 40% and 10 points behind the second candidate. Fernandez, a 60-year-old lawyer, will take office on 10 December, having to face the serious economic crisis facing the country.
