A Fujairah misdemeanor court heard yesterday the defense of a foreign teacher at a government school in the emirate of Fujairah, accused of assaulting the body of a student with disabilities, beating him with a stick, causing him a minor injury, and demanding that the lawyer acquit the teacher of the charge against him.

In her argument, Attorney Suwarat al-Naqbi confirmed that the teacher taught English at a public school in the emirate, and while he was in the classroom, he was surprised by two students holding hands during class, without regard to their classmates and the school day of the teacher explaining to the students, which made him separate them with his hand He did not use the stick, pointing out that the accused contacted the administration concerned to inform them of the details of the incident.

She added that the defendant was surprised six days after the incident by summoning and interrogating him, pointing out that the confession attributed to the defendant in the minutes of inquiries and investigations is considered void, as the Public Prosecution was investigating him without the assistance of an interpreter, demanding his innocence of the charges against him.

The details of the incident is due to a quarrel between two students in the class, one of its victims, and when the teacher noticed them separated by a stick was in his hand, causing him a minor injury.

Asked by the court to the accused teacher denied the accusation against him, and facing the confessions before the public prosecutor, he said: «There was no interpreter explaining the charges against me, I did not admit because I did not understand anything, as I demand to see the medical report that proves the injury of the student, I am a teacher, "All the students treated them well."

The tribunal decided to postpone the verdict to next week's hearing.
