Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan won the Skate Canada, the second Grand Prix of the figure skating season, while Russia's Alexandra Trusova won her first big win at 15 and only four months on Saturday in Kelowna.

After finishing first at the end of the program the day before, the two-time Olympic champion confirmed by signing a brilliant free at 212.99 points. With a total of 322.59 points, he won with a whopping 59.82 points over the Canadian Nam Nguyen. The other Japanese in the running, Keiji Tanaka, finished third at 72.57 points.

Hanyu's score is all the more impressive in perspective with that of his rival, the American Nathan Chen, who won last weekend Skate America with 299.09 points, also giving the impression of fly over the debates.

In women's competition, young Russian Alexandra Trusova, aged 15 years and 4 months, dominated the free. After a fall at the beginning of the course on a first quadruple jump, she managed her following, and took advantage of the more numerous mistakes of her competitors.

The young prodigy, who has only been competing in the senior races since September, is the youngest Grand Prix winner since her compatriot Elizaveta Tuktamysheva in 2011. The Russian Anna Shcherbakova, Skate America winner last weekend , is she, aged 15 years and seven months.

Not content to be a little earlier, Trusova also did better in points. She collected 166.2 for her free program, to total 241.02. His compatriot finished with 227.76 points (including 160.16 in the free program).

In the standings, Alexandra Trusova is ahead of Japan's Rika Kihira (230.33 total), who had dominated the first day after the short program. South Korean Young You finished third with 217.49 points.

The other competing Russian, who trains in Canada, Evgenia Medvedeva, world champion in 2016 and 2017 and silver medalist in the 2018 Olympics, disappointed, finishing fifth (209.62 points).

In pairs, Russians Aleksandra Boikova and Dmitrii Kozlovskii confirmed their first place in the free program, winning with a total of 216.71 points, 8 better than Canadians Kirsten Moore-Towers and Michael Marinaro.

The third stage of the Grand Prix will take place in Grenoble from 1 to 3 November, as part of the French Open.
