After the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, an internal message was transmitted Sunday evening by Christophe Castaner to the police. The French Minister of the Interior calls for the utmost vigilance against the risk of reprisals.

In this internal telegram sent Sunday evening to all the forces of the order of metropolitan France and overseas, Christophe Castaner warns about the possible consequences following the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

" In the hours to come, the possible intensification of jihadist propaganda, possibly calling for acts of revenge must lead you to the utmost vigilance. "

The Minister of the Interior asks the police and gendarmes to be particularly attentive at public events in the coming days, without detailing more the threat.

Contacted by RFI, Yves Lefebvre, general secretary of the union SGP Police FO, assures that " it is the first time " that such an internal communiqué is diffused following the death of one of the heads of the organization Islamic State.

According to him, the threat is "very real " and this letter from the Minister of the Interior " prevailed ".

A threat that affects the entire population, but also, of course, the police.

Christophe Castaner concludes his internal telegram by asking all the police and gendarmes " to observe the instructions of vigilance which are necessary for their own protection in the exercise of their missions, but also outside the service ".
