Former Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmajid Taboun submitted his candidacy papers for the presidential elections scheduled for December 12th.

Teboun, who held several senior positions, most recently the Prime Minister under former President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, joined the list of candidates for the presidential election, which includes so far: The head of the National Building Movement, Abdelkader Benkreina, and the head of the Algerian Tagammu Party, Ali Zaghdoud, who is likely to reject his file, for failing to meet the required legal requirements. Teboun said in a press statement that his program looks forward to the establishment of a new republic, in which the citizen finds his lost, and restores his flesh with his country, pointing out that he tends to truce and dialogue among all Algerians, regardless of their orientations. He stressed that the solution to the crisis in Algeria is through transparent and fair presidential elections, refusing to resort to any transitional phase, praising the popular movement in Algeria, and stressed that it has reached its main goal of restoring power to the people, through the application of articles 7 and 8 of the Constitution. The move came a day after thousands of Algerians protested against the existing regime in their country, and a refusal to hold presidential elections in the presence of symbols from the former regime in power.
