Municipal police Magnus Nilsson has a hypothesis that strong Facebook groups contribute to an increased sense of insecurity in Upplands-Bro. He does not want to name any specific groups, but says that they control the messages and that everything that is bad is highlighted in the groups.

Christian Eggert is co-founder of the Facebook group “Warning in Upplands-Bro / Bålsta”. The group consists of almost 12,000 members who discuss virtually all crimes that occur in the local area. He does not agree with the municipal police that such groups create insecurity.

- We created the group because we felt that police helicopters hung in the area every other day. Police cars went with blue lights and you didn't even read about half of it in the local newspapers. Then we felt that we were creating a group to find out what was really going on, says Christian Eggert.

The group is an asset

All news that does not reach the media discusses the local residents instead of the group.

- What is published on the police website is usually major events for the national media, but we who live here and live here in Upplands-Bro / Bålsta also want to know what is happening in our local community, says Christian Eggert.

He thinks the group is an asset, both for the locals and for the police.

- Personally, I think it is good to get that information out quickly to the residents so that if someone has information and important observations they can pass it on to the police.

- I am convinced and know that people already do. The police, especially in Järfälla and Upplands-Bro, use our forums to share observations and find witnesses.

What do you think about Facebook groups being cited as a cause of the feeling of increased insecurity?
