Zelensky said this on his Facebook page.
“We held a meeting to prepare the state budget 2020 for the second reading. I listened to the Minister of Finance on the main indicators. He set the task to reduce state budget spending for the next year by keeping officials by 10%, ”the Ukrainian leader wrote.
He explained that this step "will save money and direct them to socially important budget items."
Zelensky added that this "reduction should not affect teachers and doctors - those on whom the future of Ukraine depends."
Earlier, the Ukrainian government adopted amendments to the country's budget for 2019, providing for the allocation of more than 1 billion hryvnias (about $ 40 million) to pay off wage arrears to miners.
