After last week's violent incidents in Catalonia , police arrested nearly 200 people throughout the region. A total of 32 were placed in pre-trial detention, mainly young demonstrators, which did not calm the mobilization.

This Thursday, a new collective was leading procession: " Mothers for the Republic ." A group of mothers worried about their children like Maripau Hernando, 47: " My daughter is a student, normal, it's not a radical. She just went to protest and she was hit like that in a street by a flash ball. "

These women mainly denounce detentions and blame the police, as Laura García, a 53-year-old pediatrician in Barcelona, explains: " It's a tactic. By imprisoning people, they want to be afraid, and especially the youth, so that it does not go out into the street any more. But they will not succeed, because it is not only young people but now mothers who go out too. "

Saturday, a new independence demonstration is expected in Barcelona and these moms intend to put themselves in the front line to avoid also - and they recognize it half-words - that their young people do not attack the police .
