Despite a troubled location in northern Syria with many people on the run, the Migration Agency does not change its forecast for the number of asylum seekers in Sweden in the coming years. The interval remains between 16,000 and 28,000 asylum seekers per year with a plan for about 21,000 applicants per year, the Migration Board writes on its site.

"Syria a factor of uncertainty"

The forecast clearly emphasizes that the figures apply if the joint EU-Turkey statement continues to apply. If it were to be put out of play and the number of refugees and migrants applying from Turkey to Europe would increase significantly, the Migration Board may need to change its assessment.

- The development in Syria is difficult to assess and therefore constitutes a significant factor of uncertainty. We obviously follow the development closely, says Henrik Holmer.
