At Maria Ungdom, which is part of the addiction center in Stockholm, doctors are now accustomed to receiving young people who are trapped in a tramadol abuse.
"What we notice is that young people taking tramadol have increased year by year over the past four years," says Juan Figueroa, a doctor at Maria Youth.
"Friends who tip each other"What worries doctors is both how addictive tramadol is and what the abuse can lead to. Tramadol, which is a drug-classified drug, is an opioid that is closely related to morphine and heroin.
- Young people taking tramadol have a more severe abuse, says Juan Figueroa.
Do they know the risks of tramadol?
- Many young people do not know how dangerous this medicine is. They go by what their friends say. They say you will get a good trip and feel good about it. It is always the young people who tip each other.
