39 dead found in truck - now two more people have been arrested

A man and a woman, both 38 years old, have been arrested for involvement in the 39 deaths in Essex, UK. The bodies were discovered in a refrigerated space in the container of a truck.



According to the police, the two British citizens are suspected of murder and smuggling, the BBC reports. Both were arrested in Warrington in Northern England after being called by police.

The 39 bodies, which were found in the cargo hold of a truck, were discovered during the night towards Wednesday. Shortly thereafter, the truck driver, who is from Northern Ireland, was arrested for involvement in the deaths.

The largest murder investigation in British history

TT reports that the murder investigation is one of the largest in British history and several raids have been carried out at addresses linked to the arrested driver.

According to British media, all victims must have been Chinese citizens. 31 of the victims were men and 8 were women.
