President Donald Trump has long called the newspapers and other media "fake news" and said in an interview with Fox News on Monday that the White House plans to cancel subscriptions.

The Wall Street Journal and CNN report that the White House is now urging all government agencies not to renew their subscriptions, which Trump's press secretary says will save large sums of tax money.

According to CNN, Trump is not the first US president to take such action. John F. Kennedy terminated for a period the White House subscription to the New York Herald Tribune, which he perceived as biased.
