The creator of Louis Vuitton's women's collections, Nicolas Ghesquiere, refused "any association" with Donald Trump, after the US president's presence at the inauguration of a new brand workshop in Texas last week.

With the #trumpisajoke (Trump is a joke) and #homophobia, the star creator posted on his Instagram account the cover of High Energy, tube of the 1980s and anthem of the LGBT community, performed by Evelyn Thomas.

"Against all political action, I am a fashion designer refusing this association," he wrote.

Asked by AFP Thursday, the management of Louis Vuitton declined to comment.

All comments on Nicolas Ghesquières' Instagram post have been removed, including transgender dummy Teddy Quinlivan, who had worked with Louis Vuitton several times and thanked Nicolas Ghesquière for being "on the right side of history".

Vanessa Friedmann, head of the fashion department of the New York Times, for her part pointed out that other creators of Louis Vuitton and figures of the fashion world applauded the post of Nicolas Ghesquière.

The American association which leads the campaign #grabyourwallet on social networks calling for boycotting companies related to Donald Trump put on its list the group LVMH following the ceremony with the American president.

Alongside the boss of the LVMH holding Bernard Arnault, Donald Trump inaugurated on October 18 the new Louis Vuitton workshop in Alvarado, welcoming a $ 50 million investment from the French group. The businessman, second world fortune, and the American president, a billionaire from real estate, have known each other for many years.

Louis Vuitton, the flagship of the LVMH giant and the world's leading luxury brand, already has two leather goods shops on American soil in California. Their production of bags and leather goods is reserved for the American market.

The luxury group makes a quarter of its sales in the United States.
