President Evo Morales said Thursday that he won the reelection in Bolivia in the first round, obtaining more than 10 points of difference over the opponent Carlos Mesa , a result that according to the law avoids a ballot but has not yet been confirmed by the authority electoral.

"Good news ... We already won in the first round," Morales said in a press conference, citing that in the official calculation - with more than 98% of the scrutiny - his party would have 46.83% of the votes, compared to 36.7% of Mesa. To avoid a second round, the candidate who is in the lead must obtain an absolute majority or at least 40% of the votes and 10 points of difference over the second.

Following the statements of Morales, who did not hesitate to call his rival Mesa "criminal," the web page of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE), however, kept the count at 98.35% of the recorded minutes and gave Morales 46 , 38% of the votes and Mesa 37.03%, with a difference that still does not reach the 10 points needed.

On the eve, Mesa said he would not recognize the results of the TSE, which he accuses of having manipulated the vote to favor the official candidate, so opposition groups hold protests throughout the country.

The results of the calculation of the TSE have been disseminated through criticism from opponents and observations of the Organization of American States (OAS), the European Union and countries such as Brazil, Argentina and the United States.
