It was during a party in a townhouse in Täby on January 5 that the 19-year-old man was stabbed to death with a knife.

Several people were detained during the year but released. It is only after just over seven months that the NFC is done with a DNA result. Now, a 20-year-old man is in custody on probable cause suspected of murder.

- It's a worry that it takes a long time. Offenders go free, says Chamber Prosecutor Henrik Stiernblad at Norrort's Prosecutor's Chamber in Stockholm.

NFC is critical of the police

NFC believes that the criticism is justified, but believes that during the autumn they have been overcome with the processing times. They think that part of the problem also has to do with the police being understaffed.

- In many police regions, they have not been many forensic technicians, so others have sent us material. In some cases, the wrong material has been submitted, says Christina Widén, a forensic scientist at the National Forensic Center, NFC.

The prosecutor is expected to prosecute in early November, saying that it is not excluded that more people may be deprived of liberty for involvement in the murder.

Dad: "Justice Must Have Its Time"

The father of the victim tells SVT News Stockholm that last year was characterized by processing the grief. He is critical of the long investigation period, but hopes that the case can be resolved as soon as possible.

"It's been almost 10 months, but I still think that justice must have its way," he says.
