The Veterinary Laboratories of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAA) recently received a delegation from the American Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi as part of joint work on studies and research to assess the risk of coronavirus and haemorrhagic fever. It is transformed through genetic sequencing research, the results of which contribute to the development of effective plans and programs to combat these diseases and reduce their impact on human and animal health, and to consolidate the concept of single health and promote joint scientific research between human and animal health because of their close Dynamic security.

During the visit, they reviewed the efforts of the Authority in the areas of enhancing biosecurity in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, mechanisms for responding to epidemic diseases and reducing its impact, its efforts in adopting the latest techniques in diagnosing diseases, in addition to its role in conducting laboratory analyzes on diagnostic samples and carrying out disease investigation programs to enhance Animal health to establish the foundations and pillars of public health in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in addition to discussing the training of cadres of veterinary laboratories of the Commission at the American Center for the acquisition of expertise in modern technologies.

The delegation reviewed the outcomes of the joint studies and researches that have been completed and the future vision to benefit from these outputs in enhancing biosecurity and developing methods of early detection, diagnosis and tracking of sources.

The Veterinary Laboratories of the Authority contribute to the assessment of the risks of epidemic diseases through research to understand the epidemiology of pathogens and genetic mutations, which contributes to enhance the effectiveness of biosecurity to prevent diseases and improve diagnostic, detection, tracking and reporting systems, in addition to activating new laboratory analyzes with advanced techniques to diagnose diseases and effective participation in surveys. Investigate and track epidemic diseases, automate the immediate reporting of epidemiological diseases, broaden the adoption of laboratory analyzes, improve animal disease preparedness and response capabilities, Laboratory diagnostic services in the region and the world with the highest quality standards accredited according to the ISO 17025 system from the British accreditation body (UKAS), in addition to obtaining many ISO certificates in the integrated management system, which includes quality management system and environmental management system and occupational health and safety management system and management Business Continuity.

It is worth mentioning that the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority has initiated the implementation of a reference center for camel diseases in cooperation with the World Organization for Animal Health to contribute to raising the rates of biosecurity and strengthening diagnostic capabilities in veterinary laboratories, and the preparation of protocols for vaccination and treatments for camels, and will make the Emirate of Abu Dhabi first in the East As a scientific arm to be used by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) and Member States to develop standard methods and make their decisions on camel diseases based on scientific evidence.
