SNCF announced Wednesday night the interruption of rail traffic on the lines Montpellier-Toulouse and Montpellier-Perpignan-Spain until 4 November.

The train traffic is interrupted between Montpellier and Toulouse and Montpellier and Spain, at least until the end of the holiday of All Saints on November 4, due to the damage caused by bad weather, announced the SNCF.

A torrent of water carries the tracks

After the violent storms which fell on Wednesday on the Hérault, "a torrent of water took away the railroad tracks" in places between Agde and Béziers, said the company. TGV and Intercités will depart or terminate Montpellier. Trains from Barcelona will no longer reach the metropolis Herault, said a spokesman, who was not able to specify the number of trains involved. Travelers "can be reimbursed without charge" for 60 days, he added.

Earlier in the evening, the SNCF had evoked a "weakened railway platform in several places, sometimes with nearly 10 meters of empty under the tracks, which are suspended in the air". "Important work of comfort and replacement of tracks and catenary installations will be necessary" and will take at least ten days, she said.
