Some 47 heads of state and government traveled to Sochi for the Russia-Africa summit. Among them, Richard Randriamandrato, Minister of Finance of Madagascar.

The island has signed in 2018 an agreement to fight against terrorism and piracy with Russia, present in the mining sector. How does he see this partnership? What are his expectations?

The Malagasy delegation led by the president is waiting for a fresh start with a state of mind different from the cold war era, where much more ideology was spoken than anything else. Today, the African market and especially in Madagascar is open, with the context of globalization of trade. There are no closed doors, at least as far as Madagascar is concerned. We have no enemies, neither political nor economic. We are open.
